Three new collections from Laura Ashley (Laura Ashley)
Laura Ashley has brought out three lovely new collections for the Spring/Summer 09.
Petit Palais looks just perfect for a sumptuous bedroom look with Marais gold silk curtains and co-ordinating paint and wallpaper if you are giving your bedroom a make over.
"Inspired by the elegance of Eighteenth Century French silks, Petit Palais is a delicately pretty scheme in sugared almond shades of yellow gold, bonbon pink, eau de nil and champagne. Demure jacquards and sumptuous damasks compliment shapely cabinet pieces in aged gilt finishes. Pretty decorative accessories with rococo detail and subtle metallic highlights complete the look."
If you prefer something less plush and ornate then Arts and Crafts or Folksong might suit your tastes.
Arts and Crafts brings a fresh modernity to the William Morris feel of the Art and Crafts movement.
"A fresh, modern interpretation of this quintessentially English movement. Linear prints and weaves in a creative mix of scale and complexity are inspired by the flora and fauna native to the British Isles. Stylised William Morris-inspired motifs are honest and gently rustic, while slubby cottons and linens are lifted by natural shades of sage, peacock and mint."
Laura Ashley has tried to create an Eastern European folksy theme in their Vibrant Folksong collection. The berry shades in the curtain fabric and wallpaper look particularly fresh and spring-like with a white bedstead.
"A melting pot of folk and cultural influences combine in this flamboyant story. Cheerful and vivacious, strong, extrovert patterns sizzle in a dramatic palette of berry shades with flashes of vermillion. The frills, flounces and full skirts of traditional Eastern European costume are translated into naively embroidered cushions, appliquéd soft furnishings and beautifully hand-crafted accessories, with fringing, pom poms and tassels adding fun and interest."
