On the Boards! (Vi-Spring Ltd)
At the start of the year luxury bed-maker Vi-Spring launched a new range of headboards to meet the demand from their customers for statement headboards.
Managing Director Mike Meehan explained: “We have seen a growing trend towards statement headboards. Customers are choosing dramatic over-sized styles upholstered in fabric to match the divan base.”
The new range comprises six buttoned, cushioned, curved and angular designs. Each one is available in a choice of over 60 fabrics selected from Vi-Spring's colour palettes, including faux-suede, honeycomb and the ROMO Linara linen union range.
The headboards can also be upholstered in customers’ own fabric to suit any interior design scheme.
“With this new collection, our designers have created a range of headboards that make a strong visual statement in the bedroom and as with our divans; each one can be made to suit the customer’s exact requirements.”
In effect each and every Vi-Spring bed is in essence an original, designed around the customer’s individual needs and tastes, right down to the last detail. This gives you the opportunity to express your personality with a style statement. Headboards are something of a focal point in a bedroom, almost the first thing you see as you walk into the room. By picking out a colour or theme from your curtains or wallpaper in the headboard you can create a whole ‘look’ to the room.
You can echo the design elements of your furniture whether that be contemporary or more traditional, even antique. Leather has become a popular choice to marry with both periods. Many people choose a metal headboard on account of price and its ability to blend with almost any décor colour-wise but whilst this may be a compromise it may give a minimalistic impression that does not match the décor from the aesthetic point of view. You can overcome this though by choosing a wrought iron headboard that has an intricate design to add a touch of luxury and femininity not afforded by the choice of simple metal. The shininess of brass has a similar sense of opulence from the Renaissance period.
Your choice of headboard can express your personality and enhance your décor giving it that essential finishing touch. Resist the temptation of choosing in a rush thinking that having chosen the mattress and the bed, the headboard is just the work of minutes. Take the opportunity instead to consider using the same fabric as your curtains or a contrasting colour to bring out an element of your design or surroundings. You may even have a tree with pretty blossom in the spring just outside your window, consider matching with that or even the colours in a picture you’ve hung in the bedroom.
Your headboard is like a blank canvas that you can quite easily change to make another great style statement to ring the changes in a year or two by having it reupholstered.
